Why You Do What You Do

Why are you working in this industry?

Employers want to learn what drew you to their industry, why you're interested in working for their company, and why you're passionate about what you do.

What to include in your answer:

Share a story about the time when you first become interested in your career. It could be a story about your first internship or an experience that attracted you to this type of work. When you tell your story, be sure to highlight experiences that relate to the job for which you're interviewing.

So you have a job interview, and with the company's CEO, no less. While getting ready for any job interview takes a dedicated amount of work and effort, and comes with a fair amount of stress, getting ready for a C-level interview can be downright intimidating. This is the top brass, the one that (hopefully) has a vested interested in the long-term success of the company.

So what do you do? Research on the company would obviously be first on the list. The more you know, the better prepared you'll be. But, you also need to fully understand your past and your motivation for doing the work entailed in the job for which you are applying. Think long-term career goals. In this slideshow, Heather Huhman, writing for Glassdoor.com, has identified 10 tough questions you should give serious consideration and be prepared to answer before you speak to the CEO.
