Five Ways to Get the Job When You’re ‘Overqualified’

Twenty tech companies were among the 50 best places to work in Glassdoor’s latest Employees’ Choice Awards.

In their fifth year, the awards this year were based on nearly 500,000 company reviews during the past 12 months.

Facebook topped the overall list, but also rated highly were Riverbed Technologies (No. 3), Google (No. 6), National Instruments (No. 8), LinkedIn (No. 14), Rackspace (No. 15), Akamai (No. 17), Workday (No. 19), Salesforce (No. 22) and Citrix (No. 23).

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer, who ranked near the bottom of tech CEOs last year with an approval rating of 35 percent has made up ground to 46 percent, according to GeekWire. It didn’t crack the top 50 employers, however.

Amazon was named the “most improved company,” with employees giving CEO Jeff Bezos an 85 percent approval rating. It also didn’t make the top 50.

The rankings looked at workplace factors, career opportunities, compensation, work/life balance and culture. It was Facebook’s second year in the top spot.

With a higher number of reviews, it was harder than ever to make the list this year, a Glassdoor spokeswoman said.
