Emergency Response Plan
In today’s world, businesses must be prepared for any number of emergencies and disasters. From irate customers and/or employees to severe weather to fire and medical emergencies, it’s critical that organizations have a plan in place to ensure staff know what to do, who to contact and where critical infrastructure resides.
In this 10-page document, FEMA provides the tools organizations need to identify the goals and objectives of an emergency response plan. Using these tools, you’ll be able to define what your response team is expected to do, identify any regulations covered by your plan (e.g. OSHA, fire code, etc.), and develop response plans for evacuation, severe weather, shelter-in-plan, and lockdown. You’ll also be able to outline a medical emergency plan, including personnel trained to respond and locations of first aid supplies, a fire emergency plan, and a response plan for hazards or threat-specific scenarios. Finally, you’ll be able to collect emergency response team contact information and local emergency service contacts.
This plan should be distributed to members of the emergency response team and department heads. A master copy of the document should be maintained by the emergency response team leader. The plan will be available for review by all employees. In addition to printed copies stored in an emergency operations center, an electronic copy of this plan should be stored on a secure website that is accessible even if company servers are down.
