A lot of IT organizations have little to no experience managing remote servers located on public cloud computing platforms. As a result, many of these servers have not been secured simply because there is no process in place to manage cloud security.
A survey of 682 IT professionals, conducted by The Ponemon Institute on behalf of Dome9 Security, a provider of a firewall management service, finds that not only do most IT organizations not think highly of their cloud security efforts to date, but their organizations don’t really have the tools and expertise to manage the task.
