Mike VizardWhile there’s more talk than actual usage of cloud computing in the enterprise, there are definitely the beginnings of a major shift under way.

A new survey of 100 IT managers working at companies with 1,000 employees or more in the U.S., conducted by Vanson Bourne on behalf of Zeus Technology, a provider of application delivery controllers and related data center management infrastructure, finds that over 40 percent of the IT managers surveyed are moving some types of enterprise applications into the cloud.

The majority of those implementations appear to be heading toward a private cloud, but a significant percentage are slated to be deployed on public cloud infrastructure.

Of course, performance concerns related to running those applications on either a private or public cloud are top of mind issues as well.
