Data integration is arguably how IT organizations go about the business of adding business value to IT. And yet, a survey of 359 IT people, conducted by BeyeNetwork on behalf of Syncsort, finds that there is still much to be desired in data integration.
In particular, the survey makes it clear that not only is data integration still costly, a lot of manual coding is required. The end result is that the fundamentals of data integration are still a big enough issue in most IT organizations to thwart the achievement of strategic business goals.

There is no one dominant approach.
The majority have encountered this issue to one degree or another.
