Ten Vulnerabilities that Impact Enterprise Cloud Apps

IT organizations are increasingly coming to terms with having to include Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of the extended enterprise. The challenge is that not many of them have a lot visibility into AWS or the applications that run on it. To address that issue, 2nd Watch, a provider of managed AWS services, has partnered with New Relic to provide that visibility into the applications running in the AWS cloud.

Jeff Aden, executive vice president for 2nd Watch, says the company will include New Relic application monitoring as a core part of its service for managing AWS environments, which is based on the INSIGHT management software that 2nd Watch developed for managing and monitoring AWS.

AWS is a challenge from an IT perspective because the AWS is based on a self-service model that doesn’t allow IT organizations to really see what is happening inside the AWS environment. This lack of visibility is creating a lot of demand for services that enable IT organizations to better understand events occurring on AWS.

Fresh off raising another $10 million in funding and the hiring of a new CEO, Aden says 2nd Watch is taking an approach to delivering IT services that doesn’t result in customers being “nickeled and dimed” for every additional service. For that reason, Aden says 2nd Watch will make New Relic a core part of a turnkey managed AWS service.

As cloud computing continues to evolve, IT organizations should pay careful attention to how pricing models for the delivery of managed IT services are evolving. IT organizations clearly need a lot of help making the transition to the cloud. But the days when every service was priced on time and material required to deliver it are definitely coming to a close.
