Kony Unveils Suite of Packaged Mobile Applications

For some time now, Kony has been helping organizations to build mobile applications. Now Kony is making it simpler to buy and customize those applications via the launch of a Kony AppVantage, a suite of packaged mobile applications aimed at a variety of common use cases.

Carlos Carvajal, senior vice president of product marketing for Kony, says many organizations simply don’t have the internal resources required to build mobile applications or the funding needed to contract external developers. The Kony AppVantage suite of applications provides access to turnkey applications addressing everything from field service to retail banking.

In addition, Carvajal says, Kony is making available an option under which Kony will host these applications on a Kony Cloud that enables organizations to customize these applications using services provided by Kony. Hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Carvajal says this approach provides a means for organizations to easily deploy application on multiple mobile computing devices that need to be frequently updated.

Carvajal notes that given the fact that so many digital business transformations are dependent on the existence of mobile applications, it was becoming apparent that not having access to these applications had become a significant issue.

“Small to medium-sized businesses need a lower cost type of approach,” says Carvajal.

Over the years, most IT organizations have shown a preference for buying versus building applications. But because of a dearth of packaged mobile applications, most organizations have tended to rely on building mobile applications. The challenge, says Carvajal, is that any time an organization needs to update one of those applications, the cost of engaging a third-party developer can be exorbitant. Now Kony is making the case for returning to the more natural order of buying versus building those mobile applications.
