    Where IT Will Be in Five Years

    Mobile technology and cloud computing are hot. A new survey from the developerWorks division of IBM finds that most IT professionals are certain that mobile computing is going to dominate the landscape, while a little more than half are also certain that cloud computing is here to stay.

    But perhaps most telling of all, the survey finds that IT folks have come to realize that they need domain knowledge about particular vertical industries to get ahead in this world. So it looks like the most successful IT pros, going forward, are going to be the ones who can combine mobile and cloud computing with a little specific business knowledge to create unique, compelling value for their organizations.
