Much like their larger enterprise IT brethren, IT organizations within SMBs are discovering the benefits of virtualization. But just as large enterprises before them, many are also discovering the challenges of deploying and managing virtual machines.
In a survey of 658 organizations worldwide with five to 249 employees, conducted by Applied Research on behalf of Symantec, interest in virtualization was high, but adopting virtualization progress has been somewhat slow. Worse yet, when it comes to backup and security, the lack of attention paid to these functions is setting the stage for much bigger problems later.
