5 Tips to Successfully Plan for IT Modernization

For small businesses, reliable Wi-Fi is critical. More and more bandwidth-intensive applications, like IP communications and hi-def video, place greater demands on wireless networks. The Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable devices are moving into the workplace, further consuming Wi-Fi and straining the network. With all of these devices connected to the network, users will experience jitter and buffer issues. So what can be done?

“Millions of small businesses fall short of their potential because of network performance issues, resulting in loss of employee productivity and collaboration. Wireless networks will continue to be strained as there is more BYOD coming into the small office environment,” said Nandan Kalle, director of commercial networking, Linksys.

Today, Linksys launched the first sub-$1,000 business-grade, dual-band MU-MIMO access point, dubbed LAPAC2600. The new MU-MIMO technology will significantly enhance workplace network performance and help small businesses become more productive and efficient.

LAPAC2600 will be available in the next phase of 802.11ac (Wave 2) and will provide higher bandwidth and greater throughput for wireless networks. The technology is lauded for its ability to communicate with multiple devices using a separate string for each, as though each device has its own personal router. Linksys says MU-MIMO will help provide up to 3X faster performance for all devices on the network.

Kalle says, “Linksys has been at the forefront of MU-MIMO solutions in Home Wi-Fi with its consumer routers, range extenders and client adapters and now we’re bringing the technology to our SMB product line. This is the first reliable and affordable 11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO access point purposely built for the needs of small businesses.”

With the technology, users can check email, video conference, download large e-mail attachments and medical content, and stream presentations, all simultaneously and without lag. This will bring tremendous benefits to businesses such as improved collaboration and employee productivity.
