As one of the U.S.’s largest processors of payments, Heartland Payment Systems is teaming up with emaginePOS to offer a cloud-based POS system integrated with Heartland Secure payment processing for small to midsize businesses (SMBs). The companies announced the collaboration at the RetailNOW 2015 trade show in Orlando, Fla.
Through its Heartland Commerce venture, Heartland is helping SMBs strengthen their business operations by providing highly secure credit and debit card payment processing solutions. By adding the emaginePOS system, a whole new world of POS security and flexibility is opened up for SMBs. The emaginePOS cloud-based system “runs on virtually any hardware platform,” which will allow restaurants and retailers to integrate the system with their current touchscreen workstations, iPads and other tablets.
As one of the big players in the payments industry, Heartland offers many perks to software developers with whom they do business. As Heartland CEO Robert Carr explained in a statement:
“Heartland offers an open payments-processing platform and smart software developers, such as emaginePOS, like the way we do business. They also believe in our Merchant Bill of Rights and like to partner with us. The POS has become more than a point of interaction for payments. It is often the brain that collects the information to run the business and support all of the back office functions as well. This is the beauty of our Heartland Commerce business model.”
CEO of emaginePOS, Marshall Miller, says that his company was created to give SMBs a more “cost-effective alternative” to older Windows software systems. Miller sees the big issue for many SMB retailers and restaurants is in providing both an effective touchscreen POS system integrated with a payments processing solution. This is what brought about the two companies’ collaboration:
“Our mission, in partnership with Heartland, is to solve that problem by providing a robust platform-independent POS solution. Like Heartland, we believe our success depends on our reputation of being honest and transparent in all of our business dealings. We endorse Heartland’s Merchant Bill of Rights, which is another example of the way in which Heartland and emaginePOS are working together to help small businesses prosper.”
The newly combined solution from both companies will be showcased at the RetailNOW trade show for SMBs to judge for themselves whether it may make their business operations move more smoothly.
