Tech Employment Snapshot – Q1 2013

CompuCom Systems, a Dallas-based company recently acquired by private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners, has announced it will more than double its headcount in its Louisville, Ky., operation.

The IT infrastructure services provider plans to add 100 positions this year and an additional 100 in 2014, bringing its headcount to 335, reports Business First.

The company has operated in Louisville since 2004, working largely as a client for General Electric. A CRN story details how the company has evolved from a traditional VAR to a technology integration services company, going private in the process.

That Business First article says the Louisville operation supports network, server, storage and backup technologies remotely for about 25 clients, including NBCUniversal and Pittsburgh Glass Works. The company also is expected to begin offering a service desk.

Though the sale price of the company was not reported, CRN pegs it at $1.1 billion and its 2012 revenues at $2.3 billion. It says the company now focuses on cloud and mobility integration for large enterprise customers.

So far CompuCom’s career page lists only five positions in Louisville – two in systems support, one in project management, one service desk associate and a services director.
