    The Impact of Cloud Computing

As IT organizations get more comfortable with the idea that some form of cloud computing is here to stay, the next challenge becomes figuring out how to live with it.

A survey of 417 people who work for IT or in the IT vendor community, conducted by the venture capitalist firm North Bridge Venture Partners, finds that the primary driver for cloud computing adoption is shifting from costs to agility. That’s not to say that costs are not important, but the potential value of cloud computing as a business enabler is becoming more appreciated.

As for the impact of cloud computing on IT, opinions seem to be all over the map. But clearly the conversation is moving well past “why cloud computing?” in favor of discussions over how and when to deploy cloud computing.
