    8 Tips for Ensuring Employee Security Compliance

    One of the primary reasons most IT organizations don’t do a great job managing identities across the enterprise is because it’s hard to implement and maintain identity management software. One of the first actions of the newly independent Quest Software is to reach back to its former Dell owner to simplify identity management.

    This week, Quest Software, which spun out of Dell as part of the merger with EMC, announced at a Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit conference a One Identity Connect for Cloud offering that leverages the Dell Boomi cloud integration service and an open System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) interface to make it significantly simpler to implement identity management.

    Jackson Shaw, senior director for product management for One Identity at Quest Software, says rather than having to implement policies at the client level, each endpoint can now make use of Dell Boomi to access an instance of One Identity Manager software from Quest Software.

    “It’s a lot simpler for IT departments to make a single connection to the cloud,” says Shaw.


    Obviously, Quest Software was working on One Identity Cloud Connect prior to the divestiture from Dell. The primary issue that Quest Software is now trying to address is the lack of control IT organizations have been able to exercise over what end users are accessing in the cloud. Of course, the irony here is that despite all the concerns about security in the cloud, it may very well turn out to be the cloud that makes the rest of enterprise IT that much more secure by, in effect, fighting fire with fire.
