Uncovering the Truth about Six Big Data Security Analytics Myths

Fresh off of making a strategic commitment to enabling organizations to more easily become digital enterprises, BMC Software today unveiled a raft of product and services at the BMC Engage 2015 conference.

BMC executive vice president Paul Appleby says that, in general, IT organizations are under a lot of pressure to become more efficient and agile to help both expand the business and defend it from new competitors. Organizations of all sizes these days have discovered that their core business models can be more easily disrupted by startups leveraging IT. Organizations now want to not only be able to respond to those threats, Appleby says they want to leverage those same technologies to aggressively expand the size and scope of their activities into adjacent business segments.

To help facilitate that transition, BMC today unveiled TrueSight Intelligence, a Big Data analytics application delivered as a cloud service that IT organizations can employ to optimize the delivery of digital services.

At the same time, BMC released version 8.7 of BladeLogic, which adds support for Docker containers and integration with vulnerability assessment tools from Tenable Network Security, and BMC Control-M 9, which has been extended to provide native interface capability to any application using BMC Application Integrator software as well as a native interface for the Apache Spark platform and any JDBC-compliant database.

BMC today also unveiled a MyIT Service Broker through which IT organizations can better control service catalog sprawl inside their organizations, an update to the company’s tools for minimizing mainframe software costs, and tools for automating workflows inside human resource organizations.

While BMC isn’t specifically focused on applications, Appleby says the agility of the internal IT organization needs to be substantially higher inside a truly digital enterprise. To that end, Appleby says IT organizations need access to a broad range of modern management tools that span everything from mobile devices to the mainframe. Without those capabilities, adds Appleby, the IT organization will never live up to its potential to become a truly competitive weapon at a time when rival organizations are getting better at using IT to enrich their own fortunes every day.
