Top Issues Affecting SMB Employees Today

Soon small to midsize businesses (SMBs) in the UK will be able to hone their digital technology skills via a technology “roadshow” from Virgin Media Business. The tour is called the Big Digital Skills Hub and it will begin in October.

According to a recent survey by Virgin, SMBs have still been unable to completely clear the economic hurdles even as the UK economy has begun to bounce back. According to ITPro UK, Mike Smith, director of SMB for Virgin Media Business believes that with the right training, these companies can start to grow and help the economy grow further:

“SMEs are the lifeblood of the UK’s economy and technology can help drive that success further. The Big Digital Skills Hub and roadshow have been launched to help UK businesses cross the digital divide by providing them with the right skills to help them achieve their ambitions faster.”

Smith’s research shows that smaller businesses in the UK may miss out on revenues  nearing  3.8 billion pounds if they are not able to embrace and adopt new technologies. He thinks that the Hub and other technology initiatives can help these businesses compete and become “leaders in their respective industries.”

Topics covered will include ways to develop customer relations online and increasing work efficiencies via new technologies.

Any UK small to midsize business owner is eligible to attend the evening sessions. Businesses can register for the events online. The cities included on the tour are:

  • Glasgow—October 14
  • Manchester—October 15
  • Birmingham—October 21
  • Cardiff—October 22

Virgin Media Business says that the events will be “fully interactive, peer-to-peer, learning sessions”  that will allow SMBs to share stories and network while learning about technologies for their industries.
