IT Steering Committee Charter Template

IT organizations are big on setting policies, but how do all those policies fit together to create a strong culture of governance and strategy? This template will help you in establishing an IT steering committee that will set and review the course for IT in your organization.

The purpose of the charter document is to document the fact that your organization believes the IT function is critical to the success of the organization. You create an IT steering committee to oversee and report on how IT is implemented in the organization.

Use the text in this template as your starting point for your IT Steering Committee Charter. When you review the rules, simply delete any rule that doesn’t apply in your organization, and the remaining rules will be re-numbered automatically.
