Jeff Havens’ satirical book “How to Get Fired!: The New Employee’s Guide to Perpetual Unemployment.” tells employees exactly what to do to get fired from their jobs — in order to avoid doing just that. This excerpt comes from the first section, “Fake Your Resume.”
Former high-school English teacher and stand-up comedian Jeff Havens provided an
entertaining excerpt from his satirical book “How to Get Fired!: The New Employee’s
Guide to Perpetual Unemployment.” Havens, a lecturer and consultant, tells employees
just entering the workforce exactly what to do to get fired from their jobs — in
order to avoid doing just that.
This excerpt comes from the first section, entitled “Fake Your Resume.” In this
section, Havens describes the top ten reasons why people get fired. One of the ten
behaviors that help people successfully gain unemployment is that they provide false
information on their resumes, which Havens calls “one of the Four Pillars of Poverty.”
