Why Enterprise Software Must Evolve In the Age of Apps

One of the challenges that IT organizations routinely face when making use of commercial IT automation software has been in extending those platforms to custom applications. For the most part, IT organizations have had to wait for the provider of the workload automation platform to create a connecter for each application environment.

BMC Software is changing its approach to workload automation with the release today of BMC Control-M Application Integrator, which allows users to extend BMC Control-M software to any application environment using a graphical tool that automatically generates the appropriate connector.

Karol Smeczechowski, vice president of research and development for workload automation at BMC Software, says rather than relying on custom scripts that must be created by developers, IT administrators or even business users can create integrations as needed. Those integrations can then be customized and shared using an Application Exchange for Workload Automation that BMC is also making available today.

Smeczechowski says that when the business is demanding that IT be more agile than ever, there is little patience to wait for connectors to be created by vendors or developers. While BMC Control-M helps speed up that process, it also provides IT organizations with a lot more visibility into the types of integrations that have already been created inside their enterprises.

As part of the overall shift toward self-service, IT organizations are increasingly empowering employees to integrate applications as they see fit. And BMC Control-M is one tool that allows companies to provide fast integration, which can be a huge game changer for the enterprise.
