Best Practices for Teleconferencing with Employees Working Remotely

With videoconferencing becoming an increasingly popular tool for communicating inside and out of the enterprise, the strain these applications put on corporate networks can be problematic for other applications.

Looking to give IT organizations more visibility into what is actually occurring inside those videoconferencing sessions, Blue Jeans Network today unveiled the Blue Jeans Command Center, a management tool through which IT organizations can look into the cloud videoconferencing service.

Designed to integrate multiple videoconferencing systems via the cloud, Stu Aaron, chief commercial officer for Blue Jeans Network, says Blue Jeans Command Center gives IT organizations access to a dashboard and real-time metrics that can be used to troubleshoot performance issues.

Based on the same management tools that Blue Jeans Network uses to manage the service, Aaron says the analytics that Blue Jeans Command Center surfaces can then be compared to other sources of network management data to optimize the videoconferencing experience. In addition, Blue Jeans Network is making available a calculator to help organizations better understand, for example, how much they saved employing videoconferencing versus physically travelling to a meeting.

Aaron says that in this age of “Bring Your Own Everything,” the internal IT organization is experiencing a certain amount of loss of control. The Blue Jeans Command Center is intended to restore some of that control in a way that allows the IT organization to take credit for the actual quality of the videoconferencing experience.
