In one of the first customer surveys to directly address the controversy surrounding Oracle’s recent decision to end support for Intel Itanium processor running its popular database environment, it’s pretty clear that many IT organizations are dubious of Oracle’s motives.
A survey of 450 IT organizations conducted by the Gabriel Consulting Group finds that about half have serious doubts about Oracle’s stated reasons for wanting to pull the plug on Itanium, and just about as many see it as a power play to justify the company’s recent acquisition of Sun.
