Wikipedia seems to have cornered the market for the mass collaboration of definitions. However, we plan to add more of a business focus to the definitions on the Knowledge Network.
Within a year and a half, my goal is to post hundreds of definition documents in the Knowledge Network. These documents will provide at least four things:
- The word or topic defined.
- A discussion on how it applies to business.
- A look at any controversies or barriers around the topic.
- If applicable, any technical details that relate to the topic.
The initial definition documents will largely reflect the approximately 450 topic pages we have on our Web site. As new words and topics are introduced to the IT world, we will add the new ones to our list of definition documents in the Knowledge Network.
Once they are added to the Knowledge Network, we hope users will go into the documents and add important information and updates.
Some of the definition documents that have already been posted involve operating systems. Click on the ones for Mac OS, Windows Vista and Windows 7 and begin making your contributions to the Knowledge Network.
