Negotiating Ethernet traffic between enterprise and carrier networks could become a much smoother process with the development of underlying fabric technology that is at home in both environments.

Dune Networks recently unveiled a new switch capable of scaling from 10 GbE up to 100 Tbps service, allowing it to serve in data center, enterprise and carrier networks. The FE600 Fabric Element (FE) is a two-device chipset under the company's SAND platform, which means it is fully compatible with existing SAND infrastructures.

The set provides a 500 Gbps full-duplex switching capacity with support for all CBR-type data packets. It also has self-routing capability, can integrate serial links from 1 to 6.25 Gbps and can be used to build single-stage or folded three-stage fabrics supporting up to 1024 FAP devices.

Samples are already heading to select customers.
