NetApp users should see improved storage performance and better data-management capabilities now that the company has more tightly integrated its systems with flash memory devices.
The company recently issued interoperability certification for Texas Memory Systems' RamSan-500 SSD to work with the V-series storage controller.
The RamSan-500 provides up to 4 TB of storage and has much faster I/O performance than traditional hard-disk based RAIDs. Linking it to the V-series, and that platform's integrated Data ONTAP management software, provides tools such as network and storage partitioning, thin provisioning and deduplication.
