Sun's Network.com Serves Open Source Users, Developers

Seconds after posting the previous entry on Red Hat's rhx online store, we found a brief story in SDA India hyping Sun Microsystems' new Network.com portal. For just $1 per CPU hour, users will have access to dozens of applications from independent software vendors and open source developers, the story says. Application development and marketing resources are also available.

 

The official announcement from Sun came yesterday. A company exec says the launch of Network.com makes Sun the first vendor to provide "on-demand high performance computing apps over the network." In this case, the network is a Solaris 10-based grid platform.
