West Coast-based MySpace has been called the social networking site for high school students while more East Coast Facebook grew out of the college crowd. Microsoft's newest advertising and search deal with Facebook is similar to that between Google and News Corp.-owned MySpace. Web-traffic researcher Alexa Internet ranks MySpace as the largest social network and the seventh-most-visited Web site globally. The international site also is lining up other partners, such as Amazon, as it adds features.
