Facebook grew out of Harvard; its name refers to the photo books of new students designed to help other students get to know them. Though wildly popular among consumers - many younger workers swear they couldn't live without it -- businesses are trying to figure out how social networking adds value at work. Microsoft, which owns a 1.6 percent share, recently expanded its search and advertising presence on Facebook. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the site has grown from 24 million users in 2007 to 90 million.
