IBM is short for International Business Machines. The global technology company was the largest information technology company in the world for most of its history. Though IBM sold its personal computing division to Lenovo in 2005, the company remains a powerhouse when it comes to business technology and consulting. Nicknamed "Big Blue," IBM is well known for its involvement in open source software development. IBM's products include its WebSphere Application Server and its Tivoli service management offerings.
