Mesh Networks

In the mesh network topology, most if not all of the nodes on the network have direct connections to each other, as opposed to having connections managed through networking hardware such as routers. In partial mesh networks, some nodes are connected only to those with which they communicate most often. Large wired mesh networks are cost-prohibitive, but wireless mesh networks are emerging as an option in emergency response services, as well as in the Third World with the One Laptop per Child program.
