Hard Drives

Hard disk drives are the rotating disks upon which non-volatile data - data that does not disappear when the power source is removed -- is stored. Hard drives found their way from desktop to laptops and now into small mobile devices such as smartphones. Major hard drive vendors include Seagate, Maxtor, Toshiba, Iomega and Fujitsu. Important factors in hard drive selection are capacity - the highest capacity drives now run at about 1.5 terabytes - and robustness. It is recommended that drives be fully encrypted.
