Business is trying to figure out how to put social networks to best use, but it's a steep learning curve. Social networks - which allow users to find and connect with each other based on interests and shared "connections" - are enormously popular in the consumer space, with sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace bragging huge market valuations. Enterprises are trying to combine the people-centric aspects of social networks with collaborative content and knowledge management, and social networks are slowly rolling out business applications.
