Productivity software is a broad category of common tools information workers use, regardless of their specific profession. Categories of productivity software include Web browsers, word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail and calendaring, and presentation software - often combined in integrated suites. Companies have traditionally purchased seats of productivity software, but open source and new models of software delivery over the Internet have pressed vendors into exploring new models for productivity apps.
