OS Interoperability

Few enterprises have completely homogenous OS environments - a Linux server or Mac OS design workstation is bound to slip in there somewhere. The migration of networking to TCP/IP and the rise of virtualization have made interoperability much easier between various OSes, but IT must still be on the watch for incompatibilities between OSes, including various releases of the same platform - Windows XP and Windows Vista, for example - that may work their way onto the network due to hardware refresh.
