The expense of maintaining data centers - specialized facilities that host banks of business and storage servers - is an increasingly critical issue for enterprise IT budgets as energy costs continue to soar. Data centers include redundant power supplies, advanced security measures, redundant communication systems and, most notably, cooling and environmental controls. Blade servers, clusters and other advanced server tech create enormous amounts of heat, pushing green tech to the forefront of data center management.
