TCO looks at all associated costs of equipment over a period of time. It includes not only the purchase price, but also the cost to install, maintain and support it, train users, the cost of any outage, security breach, disaster recovery and more. The cost may also include floor space, electricity, development and testing expenses, scaling, decommissioning and disposal. Sometimes it can be difficult to determine which costs, and to what extent, apply to a particular asset.
