In IT, asset management combines not only contracts and inventory, but also efforts to improve business processes and getting the best bang for the buck with equipment. It can refer to software licensing agreements, configuration, and regulatory and contractual compliance. With hardware, it can refer to procurement, lifecycle and disposal management. It also involves setting up and maintaining policies, processes, and measurements that help the organization manage costs, risk, compliance and company objectives.
