Microsoft Wins Appeal in Dispute with Alcatel Lucent

After a court had previously awarded Alcatel-Lucent $358 million in damages from Microsoft, a U.S. court of appeals overturned that verdict in favor of Microsoft. The case involved a patent dispute between the two companies, and although the appeals judge said that Microsoft had indirectly infringed upon the other’s patents, the “damages awarded against the firm were not justified.”
