USB 3.0: Will Apple Switch?

The USB 3.0 initiative is aimed at Firewire, which has been losing backing as some companies have switched to USB 2.0. Apple, a longtime supporter of Firewire, has been invited to join the USB 3.0 promoters group, but has yet to respond.
