Skype Outage Not Reflective of IP Communications

Skype's major outage has prompted this blogger to address concerns about IP communications. This blog post discusses the major distinctions between Skype's proprietary peer-to-peer model and the widely used standards-compliant peer-to-peer model. Skype's outage was a setback for IP communications, but standards-compliant peer-to-peer was not at issue.
