Companies Seeking Real Business Cases in Virtual World

Conducting meetings, pitching products, training employees and boosting R&D — these are some of the activities real-world businesses like IBM are undertaking in the virtual Second Life community. Perhaps the most important questions companies need to ask themselves when considering a Second Life initiative, says a Booz Allen Hamilton associate: "What can we do better in Second Life than the other ways we’re already doing them?" An executive with the Electric Sheep Co., a firm that advises companies on virtual applications, says Second Life is appealing because it feels more "real" to people than e-mail or chat rooms.
