Enterprise Open Source Policies Becoming the Norm
Computer Business Review on February 08, 2007
A recent survey of 800 IT professionals found that the probability of an enterprise implementing an open source policy increases with the number of open source programs that enterprise uses. Colorado-based OpenLogic's research says that 83 percent of companies that use 25 or more open source projects have or are in the process of creating an open source policy. What's more, top-level execs are getting more involved in the open source management process. Support is still a big challenge for those using open source, though. The survey found that fewer than 50 percent of the programs used by most enterprises come with enterprise-level support.
