IBM Revives Lotus with Web 2.0 Features
IT-Director.com on January 24, 2007
This author offers one of the most complete summaries we've seen of the additions and changes IBM has made to its Lotus line of software. In addition to Quickr and Connection, the Web 2.0ish offerings that have been widely discussed elsewhere, he mentions that Big Blue has merged Lotus Workplace with WebSphere Portal. He gives IBM props for use of what he calls "SOA-ready services" and for tight integration of the new products. But Connection, which lumps together a number of Web 2.0 tools including tagging, blogging and wikis, may not have much to offer for SMBs, he says. For even more info, he notes that readers can visit something called Lotusphere that IBM is hosting in Second Life. (It doesn't get much more Web 2.0 than that.)
