Dell Is No. 2 Again, as HP Retains Lead in PC Sales
InfoWorld on January 18, 2007
In the fourth quarter of 2006, Hewlett-Packard again sold more PCs than any other maker in the world. Gartner and IDC estimate its market share at 17 or 18 percent, respectively, and placed second-place Dell at about 14 percent. Overall, PC sales grew at a slower rate in 2006 than the year before. Still, this article contends that the 10 percent increase shows that Microsoft's decision to delay the release of consumer versions of its Windows Vista operating system until this month did not have a significant impact on total sales.
