Google Employees Find On-the-Job Fulfillment
MarketWatch on January 08, 2007
On-site pool, five weeks' paid time off after a year on the job, $8,000 in tuition reimbursement and a climbing wall? How could Google not top Fortune's list of "100 best companies to work for" in its first year of eligibility? The mix of practical and playful benefits, coupled with the enthusiasm of its employees, made it a shoe-in, says one of the authors of the list. But Google may not be able to rest on its laurels if it hopes to maintain the top spot. At Boston Consulting Group, No. 8 on the list, employees enjoy 12 weeks of paid maternity leave, free emergency child care, classes in communication skills and a mentor program, among other benefits. A trend noted at many companies on the list: more flexible work schedules. The article includes the entire list.
