Second Life a Bright Spot for Sun

In this Q&A, Sun Microsystems' chief gaming officer describes some of the benefits the company has enjoyed since establishing its Sun Pavilion in the online Second Life community. A big advantage is being able to provide highly visual information. He cites the example of taking a rendered server and disassembling it in front of a group of people. In at least one way, Second Life is like other, more traditional technological initiatives. "Convincing people to spend the money is the hard part," he says, though it's "not prohibitively expensive." He says Sun is still earning buzz a month after launching its Pavilion — although we assume the PR potential will lessen as more companies enter Second Life.
