Four 'Megatrends' to Impact Future BI Strategies
eWEEK on November 07, 2006
This article presents four business intelligence "megatrends" from Fran Rabuck, a member of eWEEK's corporate partner advisory board and president of consulting firm Rabuck Associates. Though we're not convinced these trends will be "tsunami in size," there's no doubt they will impact future BI strategies. 1) Geospatial products such as Google Earth create new opportunities for BI but also new problems, such as how to integrate different coordinate systems. 2) More collaboration among all members of a supply chain results in better BI and enhanced business visibility. 3) Vendors work to connect diverse building systems and devices via IP connections to support information sharing between all facilities equipment. 4) In light of the exploding popularity of video, vendors try to find ways to make video data searchable.
