CIOs Focus on Business Benefits
ITBusiness.ca on November 03, 2006
A key takeaway from a recent RBC Capital Markets survey: CIOs are focused on projects that can yield strategic advantage, with software leading the list of intended investments for the remainder of 2006. Categories showing strong growth: business intelligence, enterprise content management, wireless technology, networking and on-demand applications. Interviews with several CIOs illustrate their increased attention to the business. One says that when he discusses XML, it's not from a technology perspective. Rather, he stresses the business benefits that result from using XML, such as better integration with clients and partners. "Everything is measured in business terms,'" says another CIO.
