Wall Street & Technology Online on October 24, 2006
Following a survey of more than 1,000 executives and project managers, research firms VitalSmarts and The Concours Group have identified five barriers to project success, at least some of which will likely cause most CIOs to nod vigorously in agreement. They are: unrealistic deadlines or budgets; sponsors who are not actively engaged; people who do not participate in the priority-setting process; team leaders and members who do not acknowledge problems; and team members who are unwilling or unable to support a project. Nine out of 10 survey respondents say that the first barrier, the disconnect with reality, is the most difficult problem to solve.
