The New IT Leadership Team
Computerworld on October 23, 2006
It wasn't so long ago that the CIO needed to be the top technology go-to guy. Then the CIO became a strategic player, who needed business acumen while relying on a team of technology specialists. But now CIOs are demanding more than just technical savvy from their leadership team — they want people who can work as a team to ensure business goals are met. This article looks at how various CIOs are building business-smart IT leadership teams. The most ink is devoted to how John Dick, CIO of Regions Financial Corporation, built his team. Dick points out that many leaders create homogenous teams by hiring people who are like themselves — often missing out on the strengths of a diverse team.
